Union County authorities are on the search for a woman who shot her mother multiple times in Elizabeth Saturday.
According to Elizabeth Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, at approximately 2:10 p.m., police responded to 600 North Broad Street after receiving reports of shots fired.
Police say upon arrival, they found a 52-year-old female suffering bullet wounds after being shot by her adult daughter.
Spokeswoman Martins said the victim was struck five times in the abdomen and once in the jaw. Police say the mother immediately identified her daughter as the shooter.
According to Spokeswoman Martins, a message was sent to surrounding agencies because the daughter is at-large.
A five-year-old witness was present and is at Newark Beth Israel Hospital for an evaluation but was not physically injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
