UPDATE: Police Arrest 4th of July Shooting Suspect who Injured Teen Girl in Elizabeth

Police in Elizabeth took a suspect in custody who was wanted for a violent shooting that left a teenaged girl injured on the 4th of July.

According to a statement released by Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, on August 2, 2018 members of the Elizabeth Police Department took into custody an Edison resident in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old Elizabeth resident.

Spokeswoman Martins said the Edison resident was taken into custody in the area of Irvington Avenue in at approximately 7:41 p.m. without incident.

Spokeswoman Martins said the suspect is a juvenile and was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a weapon, Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and is being held at the Union County Juvenile Detention Center.
