UPDATE: Elizabeth Man Arrested for Shooting Woman in Front of Children in Newark’s South Ward

Police In Newark arrested of Mr. Davante Jackson, 27, of Elizabeth, in connection with a shooting that occurred yesterday -Saturday-

Police say shortly after 2 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Irvine Turner Boulevard and West Bigelow Street on a call of a shooting.

Responding officers located a female victim with a non-life threatening gunshot injury upon their arrival officials said.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives investigating this incident observed property damage in the area and located a second female who was shot at, but was uninjured.

Police say the suspect, Davante Jackson, a man who both victims know, shot at the two women following a quarrel where he then fled in a blue 2017 Volkswagen Passat.

Three children were present during this incident according to police.

Jackson was apprehended by members of the Elizabeth Police Department.

Newark Police charged him with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
