UPDATE: East Orange Man Shot Dead, 6-Year-Old Grazed in Newark South Ward Triple Shooting

Today, Essex County authorities announced that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is actively investigating a tragic incident of gun violence that occurred on the 300 block of Clinton Avenue.

Late in the evening on July 24, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Newark Police officers promptly responded to reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered three individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Officials said all three victims were quickly rushed to University Hospital for medical attention. Sadly, one of the victims, identified as Victor Robert, 28, from East Orange, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m.

The other two victims, a 24-year-old woman and a six-year-old child, received medical treatment for their injuries.

Police say the gunman fired over a dozen rounds in the victim's direction before fleeing the scene. 

As the investigation into this tragic incident remains ongoing, no arrests have been made at this time.

Law enforcement urges anyone with knowledge or details related to the shooting to come forward and assist in the investigation.
