An early morning shooting in Paterson has a 17-year-old Clifton girl in critical but stable condition.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., police responded to the area of Park Avenue between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Carroll Street after ShotSpotter detected gunshots.
Upon arrival, a crime scene was established but it was not until minutes later that a victim was found in the area of Market Street and Madison Avenue.
The unidentified 17-year-old girl was found in the passenger seat of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper back.
The teen was apparently on Park Avenue inside the vehicle when shots rang out injuring her. The girl was quickly driven out of the area to get help.
The teen was then transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
