Authorities tonight have confirmed that the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot airlifted earlier to the hospital, has died.
Police responded to Featherbed Lane School at approximately 2 p.m. after police responded to the Woodcrest Apartments on Westfield Avenue on a welfare check.
Upon arrival, police found a 69-year-old male with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The man was transported to University in Newark.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.
