UPDATE: City of Orange Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash Kills Willingboro Man

Essex County authorities are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a Willingboro man in Orange on Thursday morning.

According to a statement released by authorities, the crash happened at approximately 6:05 a.m. where emergency responders rushed to the intersection of Main Street and Scotland Road to investigate reports of a crash with injuries.

Once police arrived, they found severely injured Mr. Stanley Salvant, 38, lying on the ground conscious but not able to speak.

EMS immediately rushed Salvant to University Hospital where doctors attempts to keep him alive was unsuccessful; Mr. Salvant died at around 6:35 a.m. according to police.

Back at the scene of the crash, detective noticed that the driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Salvant, left the area.

Police say a witness, who observed crash, pointed officers in the direction of a nearby gas station where an employee, officially identified as Gurmail Singh, 57, apparently admitted that he struck the motorcycle that was occupied by Salvant.

Police placed Singh under arrest then handed the case over to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office to handle the investigation and officially charge the suspect.

There were no other injuries reported.
