UPDATE: Brooklyn Man Killed in Linden Motorcycle Crash

Linden – One motorist has died and another critically injured following a serious motor vehicle crash late last night.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Officers responded to the intersection of E. Edgar Rd (US Route 1) and Morses Mill Rd (Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery entrance) on reports of a serious motor vehicle crash.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle, a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle, and a 2014 Honda Accord.

Police said both motorcycle drivers were treated on-scene by Linden Fire Department personnel for serious injuries.

Police said Samuel Hernandez, 34, of Brooklynwas transported to Newark University Hospital in serious but stable condition.

EMS transported Mr. Waldemar Aguilar, 34, also of Brooklyn, was transported to the hospital where medics pronounced him deceased a short time later.

Investigators believe that Hernandez was riding the Yamaha motorcycle and Aguilar was riding the Kawasaki.

They were traveling south on E. Edgar Rd with a group of motorcycles when they entered the turn lane at Morses Mill Rd and lost control.

Aguilar’s motorcycle collided with a the Accord while it was stopped at the light.

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

Parts of I-278 westbound and Route 1 south were closed during the investigation, but have since been reopened.
