Essex County officials have taken swift action in the wake of a tragic incident, announcing today that Mr. Scott Hurring, a 43-year-old Belleville resident, is charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Ms. Erica Voloshin, a 37-year-old from Nutley.
The violent incident happened Sunday, October 1, when Belleville police received a distressing call at 10:24 a.m. regarding a shooting incident within the 100 block of Meacham Street in Belleville.
First responders swiftly arrived at the scene, discovering Ms. Voloshin inside a residence bearing a gunshot wound.
Tragically, medical personnel pronounced her dead at 10:42 a.m.
Police said Mr. Scott Hurring was charged today with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
As the investigation unfolds, Essex County authorities are actively working to piece together the events leading up to this tragedy. Presently, no additional arrests have been made.
