UPDATE: 86-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car in Linden

Linden Police officials said at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, units responded to West Baltimore Avenue near the intersection of Hussa Street on reports of a severe motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Officials said a preliminary investigation determined that a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe struck the 86-year-old Linden man.

The man was treated on scene and transported to Newark University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old man also from Linden, was not injured in the crash, police officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau.
