Essex County authorities announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Nutley Police Department are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that resulted in the death of 75-year-old Roseann Ratz of Lyndhurst.
Officials said the victim and a female friend were crossing the street in the area of Washington Avenue and Rutgers Place in Nutley when she was struck by a car that fled the scene.
Police say the woman was transported to St. Joseph’s University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:58 pm yesterday.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
