UPDATE: $50K Reward Offered for Information Leading to Arrest, Conviction of Newark Prayer Vigil Gunman

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that the Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) in connection with a shooting of four female victims last night.

According to a statement released by authorities, shortly after 9:15 p.m., police responded to Bergen Street and Madison Avenue on a ShotSpotter notification.

Authorities say officers located four female victims suffering gunshot wounds upon officer's arrival.

Each victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment with one of the victims in critical condition.

Authorities say the other three are in stable condition.

No motive has been determined.

“We are aggressively investigating this senseless act of violence,” Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka said. “We ask anyone with information about this incident to come forward and to report what they know to the police.”
