The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken the lead into the investigation of a shooting that left a man dead in Newark’s South Ward on Friday.
According to a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office, police responded to the incident that occurred in the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue at around 3:10 p.m. where they found the lifeless body of **Mr. Michael Solemn Leonardo Morris, 26, of Newark** at an undisclosed location.
Officials say medical personnel pronounced Leonardo-Morris dead a short time later.
The Prosecutor's Office said the investigation is in its early stages and there has been no arrests reported.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
