UPDATE: $25,000 Reward Offered in Fatal Shooting of Imam in Newark

Essex County Sheriff Armando B. Fontoura has announced that the Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the tragic death of Imam Hassan Sharif of Newark.AdThe incident occurred on January 3 at approximately 6:15 a.m. Imam Hassan Sharif was fatally shot multiple times outside the Masjid Muhammad-Newark Mosque, located at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Camden Street in Newark.

Despite the circumstances of the shooting, officials have stated they do not believe the incident was motivated by bias or domestic terrorism.

As the investigation remains active and ongoing, no arrests have been made so far.
