UPDATE: 19-Year-Old Wounded in Paterson Shooting

Gunfire rang out Monday afternoon near 11th Avenue and East 23rd Street in Paterson, leaving a 19-year-old man injured and sparking an ongoing police investigation.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray said officers responded to the area at about 1:56 p.m. on August 11, after receiving reports of a shooting. 

Police located evidence of a crime scene but found no victim.

 

Hours later, officers were called to Fair Street and East 18th Street, where they found the injured man suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound. 

He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. 

Investigators later determined the shooting occurred earlier near 11th Avenue and East 23rd Street.
