UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Girl Struck Seven Times by Bullets in Newark's South Ward

Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who fired a gun in the direction of a juvenile that struck her multiple times in the city’s South Ward Wednesday evening.

According to officials, the incident happened at approximately 8 p.m. in the vicinity of 136 Goodwin where an gunmen fired off 15 rounds in which 7 of them struck 15-year-old unidentified girl.

EMS transported the child to University Hospital where police officials said she remains in stable condition.

Social media reports that a second girl was struck by bullets were false according to police officials.

Police do not believe that the young lady was the intended target.

The motive for the attack in under investigation.
