UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Central High School Student Shot in Newark Drive-by Shooting During Fire Drill

A current investigation is in progress following a shooting incident near a high school in Newark.

AdNewark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that today, Monday, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the police responded to an incident near Central High School, specifically at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Sayre Street.

The initial call indicated that a 15-year-old male had been shot by a suspect in a drive-by shooting.

The victim was swiftly transported to University Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition at this time.

Law enforcement authorities are actively probing the incident's circumstances, and the investigation is ongoing.
