Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Union Township Police Director Christopher Donnelly said 39-year-old Erika Hampton is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

The charges stem from the death of 37-year-old Nana Kwadwo Takyi Ankamah, also of Union.

Police were called to the Vermella Union Apartments around 10:06 p.m. on October 18 after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual.

When officers arrived, they found Ankamah suffering from a serious stab wound.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
