Union Township Man Arrested for Explicit Contact with Minor

A Union Township man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor in Union Township, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Union Police Director Christopher Donnelly announced today.

Officials said Mr. Solomon Blay, 41, faces multiple charges, including one count of first-degree kidnapping by unlawful confinement, one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

Union County officials said these charges stem from a referral to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit by the Union Police Department.

Blay was arrested on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Newark and is currently held in the Essex County Jail pending his detention hearing on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

The investigation remains ongoing.
