Union Police Seeks Public’s Assistance ID’ing Armed Robbery Suspect

Union Township (Union)

The Union Police Department received a 9-1-1 phone call at 3:30 p.m. on July 31st from a citizen who reported a robbery in progress at the Care Plus Pharmacy at 1024 Stuyvesant Avenue.

According to authorities, the citizen entered the pharmacy and observed the suspect struggling with an employee. The customer screamed and ran back out of the store.

Police say her scream startled the suspect and caused him to run out of the store through a back door and get into an awaiting White Chevrolet Lumina - no license plates observed.

According to press release, the employee stated that the robber had a silver handgun and fought with her for several minutes. Luckily the worker only suffered minor injuries, police added.

Officers say the suspect was in possession of a bag with The Central Ward Titans, a Pop Warner Football team from Newark - logo on it. The suspect was also last seen wearing pants that appeared to be part of a US Postal Service Uniform.

Officials say the robber fled before he was able to get any money or pharmaceutical products.
