Authorities in Union County are currently at a local park on the border of Union and Elizabeth investigating a report of a child sexual assault.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to Phil Rizzuto Park, located on Morris and North avenues, for a report of suspicious activities at around 5 p.m.
As a result of the ongoing investigations, no official details were immediately available about the victim or the alleged attacker.
Elizabeth City officials would only confirm an investigation into an incident that involved a minor but stated that the investigation is active and ongoing.
"Police are looking into all information and checking surveillance cameras in the area" Elizabeth City officials said.
According to two residents outside the park, they were recently advised that a sex offender moved into the area but would not confirm if the incident involved the offender.
