Union Center Launches “We Care About Our Community” Program to Assist Federal Employees

Union Township (Union)

This week the Union Center SID launched their "We Care About Our Community" where federal employees can stop by the Clerk's Office in Town Hall with their employee ID and pick up a gift card of their choice (to various Center merchants) starting Jan. 23rd.

Officials say participating merchants include Van Gogh Ear Cafe, Cioffi's Restaurant and Pizzeria, El Chingon Tex-Mex Restaurant, Lagar Restaurant and Stop & Shop of Union.

“More than 800,000 federal workers are affected by the government shutdown, and many reside right here in our community,” said Mayor Michele Delisfort, during the January 22nd Township Committee Meeting.

“We want to bring normality back to these families affected by the government shut down. Giving back to the community is something that our wonderful small shops in the Center take pride in and during these difficult times, they want to make sure that they do everything they can to help their community,” said Fatimah Raymond, Economic Director and Union Center SID Director.

Gift cards are on a first come, first served basis.

If any local business in the Center would like to donate any gift certificates, please reach out to Fatimah Raymond at the SID Office.
