Two Shot With One Killed in Separate Union Township Shootings

Union Township (Union)

Authorities in Union County are investigating a set of weekend shootings that killed a male victim in Union Township over the weekend.

In the first incident, police responded to an address on Oswald Place shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police located a person suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to their leg at that location. Authorities in Essex County were trying to determine if the shooting victim was connected to a recent shots fired incident in the 500 block of Lyons Avenue.

Union Township Police said they are investigating the Oswald Place Shooting.

On Sunday, police responded to reports of an injured person at the CVS located at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Commerce shortly before 7 p.m.

Police arrived and found a male victim bleeding from his chest. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police set up a crime scene near the Biertuempful Memorial Park, where they searched for shell casings and other possible victims.

Authorities believe that the suspects fled the scene in a light-colored BMW, but the motive for the shooting is under investigation.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office was notified of the fatal shooting.
