Two Men Arrested for Illegal Transport, Dumping in Newark

Authorities announced the arrest of Bloomfield resident, 33-year-old Henry Perez and 25-year-old Jason Rivera of Passaic, for an incident of illegal dumping today.

According to police, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the supervisor of the Illegal Dumping Task Force was in the area of 6th Street and Park Avenue when he observed a white U-Haul truck.

Based on his experience with those type of trucks being used to haul debris for illegal dumping, officers followed the truck.

When the truck stopped on Ogden Street, the sergeant observed two males, (Perez -balding, Rivera - dark hair) unloading leaves and branches.  

The two suspects were ultimately charged with illegal dumping and illegal transport of solid waste.

The vehicle used to transport the illegally dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Illegal Dumping Task Force has made over 35 arrests since its inception on June 12, 2017.
