Two Juveniles Charged with Shooting 14-Year-Old to Death in NJ

Two juveniles from Atlantic City have been charged in connection with a shooting incident that tragically resulted in the death of 14-year-old F.G., also from Atlantic City.

The incident occurred earlier this month, sparking a comprehensive investigation by local authorities.Ad On the night of January 5, at approximately 10:48 p.m., the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a call regarding a disturbance involving several individuals and possible gunfire on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two juveniles with gunshot wounds.

A 16-year-old male, identified as A.C., suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at AtlantiCare Medical Center, city division, before being released.

The second juvenile, F.G., sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was also rushed to AtlantiCare Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on January 6, 2024, at 3:27 p.m.

The cause of death was ruled a homicide, with multiple gunshot wounds cited as the manner of death.

The first juvenile charged in this case is A.C., the 16-year-old who was shot in the leg. He faces multiple charges, including second-degree aggravated assault for discharging a firearm at another person, fourth-degree pointing a firearm at someone, and second-degree illegal possession of a firearm.AdA.C. was arrested on January 9, 2024, and is currently held at the Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center.

The second juvenile charged is another 16-year-old male, identified as L.C. His charges include second-degree aggravated assault for discharging a firearm at another person and illegal possession of a firearm.

L.C. was also arrested on January 9, 2024, and is being held at the Essex County Youth Detention Center.

The incident is under active investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.

This case has brought attention to the issue of juvenile violence and gun control in the community as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
