Two Injured by Pellet Gun Fire in Newark’s North Ward

Two pedestrians suffered facial injuries after being struck by pellets fired from a passing vehicle on Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard in Newark on January 2, 2026.

The victims told police that the incident occurred at approximately 7:16 p.m. while they were walking northbound in the 600 block of the roadway. 

They reported hearing several popping sounds coming from a black vehicle traveling southbound, moments before they were struck.

 

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect pictured in connection with the investigation.
