Two Injured After Gunmen Fire Nearly a Dozen Rounds on Street in Newark

A ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of a shooting that occurred in the vicinity of 159 Avon Avenue just before 12:20 a.m.

According to reports, when police arrived at the scene, they found about 22 shell casings and two victims bleeding after bullets struck them at that location.

Police say one of the victims suffered a bullet wound to the ankle while the other was struck to the thigh as gunmen continuously fired at the pair.

EMS rushed the victims to University Hospital, where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.

Police are looking for a silver or light-colored vehicle -possibly an Audi- occupied by suspects wanted for the shooting according to reports.

The motive for the attack has not been determined.
