Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said members of the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested Jahquan Porter, 25, of Jersey City, and Angelica Manning, 23, of Bayonne, on Tuesday, May 26. Both suspects were already being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on unrelated matters when they were charged.

Porter faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, making threats, and weapons offenses involving a knife.

Manning has been charged as an alleged accomplice in the attack and faces similar charges connected to the incident.

The arrests stem from a violent episode that unfolded shortly after 1 a.m. on May 18 in the area of 109-111 Old Bergen Road in Jersey City.

Police responding to reports of gunfire found two men inside a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as Luis Quintero, 53, and Kenneth Darby, 52, both of Jersey City.

Authorities said both men were transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

Investigators later determined that Darby had also been stabbed during an altercation involving Porter before the shooting occurred.

Officials said the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is still determining Darby’s official cause of death.
