Two Boys Struck by Vehicle Outside Sayreville School; Driver in Custody

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John J. Zebrowski of the Sayreville Police Department said two brothers walking to school this morning were taken to a hospital after they were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The two boys, ages 5 and 8, were being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick after they were struck at 7:48 a.m. while walking in a crosswalk on Main Street at Our Lady of Victories School in the borough.

The driver, whose name is being withheld at this time, fled the scene but was apprehended by police a short time later.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
