Two-Alarm Fire Damages Linden Home

Officials are investigating a two-alarm blaze that ripped through a two-and-a-half story house this evening in Linden, Deputy Fire Chief George Kuhn said.

When firefighters responded to the scene on the 400 block of Helen Street at approximately 8 p.m., they found heavy fire that originated in the home’s basement and quickly made its way to the attic, said the chief.

Approximately,seven of the residents, including at least two children, self-evacuated from the two-and-a-half story home, according to Kuhn.

No injuries were reported. However, a family dog was unaccounted for but was later found.

At least two families, consisting of approximately 7 people, were displaced by the fire, said the chief.

Crews from Clark and Roselle Park responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined however there is no indication that the fire was suspicious in nature, Kuhn said.

The fast moving fire was place under control in just under an hour.
