Two-Alarm Fire Damages House in Kearny

An overnight fire that ignited inside a house in Kearny had firefighters from several municipalities on the scene.

Kearny Firefighters rushed to reports of a fire that broke out at 64 Laurel Avenue a little after midnight.

Crews arrived to find fire coming from a second-floor apartment of the two and a half story house according to officials.

Firefighters quickly contained the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.

A search of the residence had firefighters finding no trapped or injured occupants.

One firefighter was taken to Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville for non-life threatening injuries.

Mutual aid from Jersey City, North Arlington, and Harrison assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
