Trespasser Fatally Struck by Train in Linden

An alleged trespasser struck by a train this morning in Linden has emergency responders on the scene for a fatality.

The incident happened on the train tracks near the Stiles Street Bridge before 8 a.m. causing NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines eastbound train service to be suspended between Metuchen and Newark and from Woodbridge to Newark according to officials.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.

There were no other injuries reported among 800 people on the Northeast Corridor train.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
