Trenton Shooting Victim Charged for His Alleged Role in Shootout

A 31-year-old Trenton man wounded in a gun battle Tuesday morning has been charged after detectives spotted him firing at his assailant on video footage.

According to authorities, the incident occurred along East State Street at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say footage shows Justice Ford’s white car being shot at by a gunman on foot, while he drove in reverse as he attempted avoid gunfire. However, Ford then gets out of his car, fires back with a handgun and speeds away but ultimately crashed a few blocks away.

According to police, Fords was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A 35-year-old Trenton resident- who appears to be a victim - also suffered non-life threatening injuries but had not been charged with any crimes.

In addition, two sanitation workers escaped unharmed from the scene after their sanitation vehicle’s windshield was struck by gunfire.

Ford was charged with aggravated assault and related firearms charges.
