Police in Trenton are investigating a shooting that left three people injured Friday afternoon near the city’s border with Ewing Township.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred shortly before 2:50 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire near the 800 block of State Street.
Responding officers canvassed the area and discovered a crime scene, along with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where all three are currently receiving treatment and are expected to survive, officials said.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under active investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact local police.
