Totowa Emergency Responders Pull Man from Burning Crashed Car

An early morning crash that occurred on a Totowa street had emergency responders pull a man from a vehicle that burst into flames after it crashed early Saturday morning.

According to a preliminary investigation, the single-car crash happened near the intersection of Boyle Avenue and Franklin Place at approximately 4:35 a.m. where a male driver somehow lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the rear of a parked car at that location.

Police say, the impact of the collision caused the car to burst into flames with the man still trapped inside.

Responding officers were able to swiftly get the man out of the vehicle then hand him over to EMS who transported him to to the hospital suffering non-fatal injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire did not start in the front engine compartment where the impact occurred, but it appeared that the vehicle had blown out tires that ignited the car.

Police are investigating the official cause of the crash. There were no other injuries reported.
