T.K. BLUE: Saxophonist to Perform, “Reflections in Blue” in Bergen County

Bergen County officials reported that Saxophonist T.K. Blue will present "Reflections in Blue" at the Englewood Public Library, on Thursday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. on the Library's front plaza. 

This will be the 4th concert in the Library's11th annual Summer Jazz Concert Series - "Jazz Under the Stars." 

Officials said this acclaimed series occurs every Thursday evening from 7:30 from June 29 through August 31. 

The concert series is free and open to the public.  Officials said no registration is needed, but library parking is very limited.

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held the following Sunday.

​T.K. Blue, also known as Talib Kibwe, was born in New York City  and began playing music at eight years old on trumpet, switching to flute in high school.

T.K. received a full academic scholarship to New York University, where he began playing soprano & alto saxophone.

He earned a bachelor's degree in both music and psychology. T.K. Blue went on to earn a master's degree in music education from Teacher's College at Columbia University.

He has worked with, among others, Don Cherry, Jayne Cortez, the South African pianist Dollar Brand (now Abdullah Ibrahim), and Randy Weston, for whom he was musical director.

Blue has also taught at the scholarly level of jazz studies at educational institutions, including Suffolk Community College, Montclair State University, and Long Island University.​
