Police are on the search for the suspect responsible for a shooting that left three people injured early this morning near a bar in Newark.
Gunfire rang out just outside the A and R Bar located in the 600 block of South 10th Street at Springfield Avenue rushing a large police presence to the scene where first arriving officers located a gathering of bar patrons outside and several people suffering injuries from apparent gunfire.
According to witnesses at the scene and inside the bar, shortly before the bar was scheduled to close at around 2 a.m., a suspect (possibly a male) who was waiting on the outside, began to fire several rounds in the direction of the bar causing patrons to run for cover back into the establishment.
Emergency responders found three people suffering from gunshot injuries according to reports.
A male (who was reported to be the bar's security guard) was struck to the thigh, a female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks, and the most seriously injured was a male victim who was struck twice to the back reports said.
All of the victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
Police setup a large crime scene in the area where patrons were required to wait inside the bar for about an hour during the investigation only to be released through a rear door by authorities.
There were no immediate reports of arrests.
