Three people shot in separate Newark neighborhoods in has police investigating.
The latest shooting incident occurred at around 4 a.m. in the 1000 block of 18th Avenue sending police to the scene where they located a male victim suffering a gunshot injury to the abdomen according to on the scene reports.
EMS rushed the conscious and alert victim to University Hospital in Newark in serious but stable condition.
Police set up a crime scene in the area where thy searched the area for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
In another overnight incident, University Hospital officials contacted police when a male victim suffering gunshot wounds entered the emergency department.
Police units arriving at the hospital were told that the shooting occurred in the area of 4th Street and 6th Avenue West. Police searched the area, but it is not immediately clear if officers ever located the crime scene.
As of 3:30 a.m., there were no reports of a fatality involving this shooting.
An early evening shooting in the 20's block of Longworth Street sent police to the scene where officers located a male victim suffering a graze injury at that location according to reports.
A dark colored vehicle, possibly a Nissan Maxima, was observed speeding away from the area immediately after the shooting.
The victim's injuries were non-life-threatening.
Police responded to at least one other shootings that erupted in the city that resulted in no reported injuries: At around 4:35 p.m. gunfire rang out in the 80's block of Brookdale Avenue sending police to the scene where officers found several shell casings.
Al of the shootings are under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
