Authorities in Union County announced that a multiagency investigation has led to the arrests of three men identified as suspects in a string of armed robberies and one carjacking which occurred throughout Union County.

According to officials, Alfred Pierre, 37, and Daron Thomas, 32, were arrested on April 4th and charged with multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.

Authorities say a third suspect, Isaiah Barrett, 32, was previously arrested for one of the robberies that occurred on December 26, 2022, in Linden and has since been in custody in the Essex County Jail, where he was served warrants for multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons for the additional incidents.

Barrett has also been charged with falsely reporting a crime to law enforcement and employing a juvenile in furtherance of this false report.

A thorough investigation conducted by Detectives and  Linden Police Department, Roselle Police Department, Elizabeth Police Department, the Orange Police Department, and Union County Prosecutor’s Office led to the identification of Barrett, Pierre, and Thomas as the suspects in five armed robberies that occurred December 2022 and January 2023 throughout the respective municipalities.

According to authorities, this investigation also led to the identification of Barrett and Thomas as the suspects in a carjacking that took place in January 2023 in Linden.

Members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence and Narcotics Division, along with Police Departments from Linden, Roselle, Elizabeth, Orange, and the New Jersey State Parole Board, executed the arrest warrants on Pierre and Thomas, who were placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Union County Police Department for processing.

“I want to commend the fortitude and dedication exhibited by all of the investigators who have worked tirelessly on this case,” said Prosecutor Daniel

“Together, we are able to reduce predatory violence and improve the quality of life for the residents of the communities we continue to serve.”

“The arrest and prosecution of this case could not be possible without the coordinated effort of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the municipal police agencies,” stated Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Caparruva, who will be prosecuting this case.

“Our goal is to seek justice for the many individuals victimized by these violent acts.”
