Police in Newark recovered ballistics evidence from the scene of a shots-fired incident that occurred in the city’s North Ward on Christmas night, the third reported shooting in Newark that day.
Officials said a ShotSpotter device activated in the 900 block of Elwood Avenue around 9:15 p.m., detecting approximately six rounds of gunfire in the neighborhood.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and taped off the area after locating multiple shell casings.
Police conducted a canvass of the surrounding area, and no victims were immediately reported.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Newark experienced three separate shooting incidents on Christmas Day; however, no injuries were reported in connection with any of them. 
The incidents remain under investigation.
