An elevated rise in armed robberies that's reportedly occurring in the city had a gas station on Spring Street targeted for the third time in less than a month, according to store management.
Gunfire erupted inside the convenience store portion of the Delta Gas Station that's located in the 700 block of Spring Street shortly before 6 a.m. where a suspect entered the establishment armed with a gun and demanded cash.
According to store surveillance videos, a physical altercation broke out when the suspect began to attack the clerk inside the store forcing the clerk to fight back.
The suspect fired a shot shattering the glass of the store then grazing clerk's leg.
The suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Elizabeth Police are searching for the suspect.
