Thank You to All Public Safety Communicators in New Jersey

New Jersey

On this National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we should all be reminded that behind every brave firefighter, fine police officer, active EMT/Paramedic and all who protect and serve communities 24-hours a day in New Jersey, there is a Public Safety Telecommunicators who engage the public first through phone conversation.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management highlights Operations Dispatch Unit (ODU) on the NJ Turnpike and The Garden State Parkway.

State officials say ODU Turnpike/Parkway serves the six New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway New Jersey State Police Stations.

According to officials, there are 45 Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) covering this area where ODU Turnpike/Parkway processed over 570,000 calls for service in 2017 which is about 1500 service/emergency calls per day.

Happy Telecommunicator's Week to all that serve in this capacity in our state.
