Ten firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a house fire in the borough early Tuesday morning, according to Hillsdale Fire Chief William Farrell.
The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. on the rear deck of a home on Ellen Court and quickly spread into the attic.
During the response, crews temporarily lost water supply, which led to a dangerous “flashover” — a sudden ignition of all combustible materials inside the area.

A mayday call was issued, forcing all firefighters inside the residence to evacuate.
While emergency medical teams treated the injured firefighters, additional crews were able to bring the flames under control.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arson squad and the Hillsdale Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the blaze.
