Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager that occurred Friday afternoon inside a Camden residence, according to information released by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Authorities said officers responded to the 1500 block of Thorn Street at approximately 12:35 p.m. on June 6, 2025, following a report of a person shot.
Inside the home, police found 16-year-old Xyere Brooks of Camden suffering from a gunshot wound.
Brooks was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 2:15 p.m.
Investigators determined that multiple juveniles were present in the residence at the time of the shooting.
The circumstances surrounding the firearm’s discharge remain under active investigation.
No criminal charges have been filed as of now, and officials said no additional information will be released at this time.
