Teen, 17, Killed in Jackson Twp. Crash

Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed 17-year-old Teen from Jackson Township.

Jackson Police Officers and emergency personnel, along with emergency responders from Plumsted, responded to the intersection of West Veteran’s Highway and Hawkin Road on the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a truck and a passenger vehicle with entrapment at approximately at 3:22 p.m., according to police.

The investigation revealed that vehicle #1 - a 1993 Ford F800 flatbed truck towing a full trailer loaded with a tractor - operated by a 43-year-old James Ohagen of Mt. Laurel, was traveling westbound on West Veteran’s Highway. 

Vehicle #2 - a 1997 Jeep - operated by a 17-year-old Kaitlyn Henninger of Jackson was traveling southbound on Hawkin Road, police added.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Jeep came to a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection and after an uninvolved vehicle traveling eastbound on West Veteran’s Highway completed a left turn onto Hawkin Road, proceeded into the intersection into the path of the Ford truck. The driver of the truck attempted to avoid the Jeep but crashed into the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Truck driver (Ohagen) was unharmed. Henninger, driver of the Jeep - was transported from the scene for treatment and was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation is being conducted by Police Officers Joe Candido, Trevor Crowley and Kevin Chesney and is ongoing at this time.
