Authorities in Newark request the public’s help in identifying the suspects in connection with a shooting on June 3, 2025.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., states that at approximately 1:58 p.m., the shot spotter detection system picked up gunfire in the 100 block of Avon Avenue.

Police Officers responded, canvassed the area, and located six shell casings, Newark Police said.
During the investigation, according to Newark officials, surveillance video captured a blue Infiniti that slowed to a stop after passing the victim, who was walking on Avon Avenue.

Newark authorities said that suspect #1 exited the vehicle and chased the victim while the front seat passenger fired several rounds. No one was struck. Suspect #1 got back into the car, which fled east on Avon Avenue and was later recovered following an accident from which the suspects were seen fleeing north on Martin Luther King Boulevard and east on Crawford Street.

Suspect #1 is described as a black male with a slim build. He wore a grey tracksuit, a black ski mask, and white sneakers, Newark officials say.
According to Newark officials, suspect #2 wore light-colored and white sneakers. Suspect #3 appears to have long hair, possibly dreadlocks, and wore black and grey Retro #3 Air Jordan sneakers.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspects’ identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
