Suspects Sought for Montclair Shooting

Montclair Police responded to the area of Washington Street and New Street on a report of shots fired Saturday around 3:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located six spent shell casings in the intersection.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that a black vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic, occupied by two black males, was shooting at a dark-colored car, possibly a Chevy Malibu, also occupied by two black males.

According to police, the Civic was last seen fleeing west on Fulton Street towards Elm Street. The Malibu was last seen traveling south on Maple Avenue.

Police say all the area hospitals were checked for victims of gunshot wounds with negative results.

At this time, it is unknown if anyone in the Malibu was struck by gunfire.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Daniel Heiser at (973) 509-4724.
