Suspects Occupying Vehicle Stolen From Boonton Fire Shots in Newark

Authorities reported property damage in a shots-fired incident in Newark's Central Ward Tuesday night. 

At approximately 9:35 p.m., gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 833 South 19th Street, prompting a police investigation. 

According to preliminary reports, units arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but a search of the neighborhood indicated no injured victims. 

Police say several armed suspects occupying a 2018 Toyota Corolla pulled up in the neighborhood and fired rounds at unknown targets in the community. 

The vehicle has reported NJ license plate numbers "G78-NMA". The car is reportedly stolen from Boonton (Morris County). 

Several bullets struck and damaged an unoccupied vehicle. 

Police are also looking into another shooting incident that occurred in the city's North Ward Tuesday evening. 

In this incident, at around 5:30 p.m., residents contacted police when they found the windows of an unoccupied vehicle with bullets holes.

Shooting

Both shootings are under investigation.
