Suspects Fire More than a Dozen Shots at Victim in Paterson Shooting

EMS rushed a male victim to St. Joseph's Medical Center after gunfire erupted in a neighborhood in the city striking the victim early this morning.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of East 18th Street before 1 a.m. sending a large police presence to the scene where they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the arm according to reports.

Police are continuing to investigating the motive for the shooting, but according to preliminary reports, an unidentified male suspect brandished a gun and began to fire multiple rounds in the direction of the victim.

Officers arrived in the area and set up a crime scene where they found more that a dozen shell casings and bullets lodged in at least vehicles at that location.

The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life threatening.

It is not immediately clear if the victim was the intended target or an innocent bystander.

The investigation is active.
