Suspect Wanted for Shooting, Aggravated Assault Arrested in Newark

The Newark Fugitive Apprehension Team and the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force teamed up and arrested **Mr. George Colon, 22, of Newark,** wanted for an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Saturday, May 27.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:35 p.m., two male victims occupying a vehicle at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and North 3rd Street were shot at by a male suspect.

Police said neither victim suffered injuries during this incident.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence that identified George Colon as a suspect in this aggravated assault where they then obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Police arrested Colon on Friday in East Orange without incident and charged him with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges lodged against Mr. Colon are mere accusations.

Mr. Colon is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
